Our pitches

Our pitches

Destination Möckeln offers a beautiful west-facing location by Lake Möckeln in Älmhult municipality. If you are travelling by motorhome, you can park right by the water and enjoy the calm, nature, and sunsets reflected across the lake. The site is surrounded by genuine Småland cultural history, while central Älmhult — with restaurants, shopping, and events — is within walking and cycling distance. Today, we primarily welcome motorhomes, but also offer a smaller number of pitches for caravans and tents. The camping plots are generously sized to give every guest plenty of space. For those who book the pitch at the very tip of the headland, something extra special awaits: a view few other campsites can offer.

About the site and its surroundings

About the site and its surroundings

The place where the motorhome site is located today has a rich history. As early as the beginning of the 20th century, the area was a popular meeting place, when Möckeln was a lively community with a train station, industries, a shop, and restaurants. The beautifully situated bathing area, together with the campsite and dance floor by the shoreline, attracted both locals and visitors from farther away. Today, you can once again enjoy the beautiful views and the shallow sandy beach — perfect for families with children and anyone looking to cool off on warm summer days. For those who want to discover nature from the water, canoeing is available. At Destination Möckeln, we have a long tradition of canoe rental along the popular canoe route on the Helge å river. Lake Möckeln also offers good fishing opportunities, with species such as perch, pike, and zander.

Destination Möckeln is your gateway to the best of Småland.

Destination Möckeln is your gateway to the best of Småland.

You are in the heart of a region that shaped some of Sweden’s most significant people. Both Carl Linnaeus, the “King of Flowers,” and IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad have roots here. In nearby Älmhult, the IKEA Museum is housed in the company’s very first store. There, you can follow the story of IKEA’s journey — from a small business in Småland to a global furniture empire. Just north of Älmhult is Linnés Råshult, where Carl Linnaeus was born. Today, the area is a cultural reserve where, for decades, work has been done to recreate the landscape as it looked in the 18th century. Here, you can experience history up close and walk through surroundings that are largely unchanged since Linnaeus’s time. Linnés Råshult also offers guided tours led by the “King of Flowers” himself. Råshult is a unique place where Småland’s history comes to life. Destination Möckeln is also an excellent starting point for hiking. The surrounding forest landscape offers many beautiful trails, including the newly opened Eastern Möckeln hiking trail. Good transport connections also make it easy to get to and from the area. Nearby, there are several nature reserves with varied environments — from open wetlands to lush broadleaf forests.
